Why I No Longer Show Much Skills – Cristiano Ronaldo

Real Madrid forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, has revealed why he no longer show much of his skills on the pitch, but rather focuses more on scoring goals.
The forward said that at a certain point in his career, he decided to focus less on showing off his skills because goals are needed to win games and not skills.
The Portugal captain scored 118 in 291 appearances for Manchester United between 2003 and 2009, but drew criticism early on for often attempting fancy step-overs.
But since moving to the Spain capital, Ronaldo has upped his rate considerably and is on 411 goals in 401 outings for the club, while in recent times the winger has often played as a centre-forward.
Ronaldo told YouTube freestyler Soufiane Touzani, that goals had to come ahead of entertaining supporters.
“In a game the most important thing is to win. And goals helps to win. You can mix — first goals, and after tricks and assists after. What the people want is goals, so I try to score goals.”
Ronaldo added that he still found time to bring out some skills, but it could not be his first priority.
“I still do it, not the same as at Manchester, but I still do it,” he said. “Now I prefer goals, I’m focused more on goals. Skills come third.”

No rest yet for Lukaku, Mourinho says

Romelu Lukaku has started all of Manchester United’s games in the Premier League and Champions League but the Belgian striker cannot expect a break just yet, manager Jose Mourinho has said.
Lukaku has hit the ground running since signing from Everton in the off-season with six league goals in as many games.
He has also netted three times in European competitions as United have barely missed the injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Mourinho, who hailed Lukaku’s development since last working with the player during their time at Chelsea, said Lukaku must continue leading United’s line until Ibrahimovic’s return.
“Without Zlatan, we cannot rotate the striker, especially because Marcus Rashford is playing also in other positions,” Mourinho told the club’s website (
“So, until the moment we have Zlatan, we cannot think about giving rest to our number nine, the same way we give (rest) in other positions. We cannot do that.”
Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals in 46 appearances for the club last season but injured his knee ligament in the 2-1 Europa League win over Anderlecht in May.
The 35-year-old signed a one-year contract in the close season after surgery, but is not expected to return before the end of the year
The Portuguese manager said Lukaku had taken his opportunities well.
“I don’t want to speak about this progress. If I do that, it looks like we did something extraordinary in three months that he doesn’t have in the remaining years of his career,” said Mourinho.
“I don’t think it’s fair. It’s just a global evolution; I think every step in his career, he got it, grabbed it with both hands.
“It was always his dream to come to this level and since he’s arrived, I don’t think he thinks another thing other than success.”
The manager said Lukaku was coping well with the pressure of playing for the 20-times league champions.

FIFA Bans Dele Alli For “Offensive And Unsporting” Gesture

Football ruling body FIFA has banned Nigerian born England midfielder Dele Alli for one international match following his middle-finger gesture during the World Cup qualifier against Slovakia.

Fifa also placed a fined 5,000 Swiss francs (£3,852) on the Tottenham player after it regarded the incident on 4 September as “offensive and unsporting”.
Alli will miss Thursday’s World Cup qualifier at home to Slovenia.
The 21-year-old will be available for the game against Lithuania on Sunday.
Alli said his gesture was aimed at former Spurs team-mate Kyle Walker during the 77th minute of the 2-1 win in Group F.
The incident occurred after Alli was body-checked by Slovakia defender Martin Skrtel, and referee Clement Turpin waved play on.
It initially appeared that Alli gestured towards the official, with whom he also had words when he was substituted in the 93rd minute.
A Fifa statement said: “Although the disciplinary committee was not convinced that the player directed the gesture at the referee, and regardless of whether it was allegedly directed at a team-mate, it did consider such gesture to be offensive and unsporting. Therefore it amounted to a violation of article 57 of the Fifa disciplinary code.”

Cavani ‘attacks’ Neymar again

The rift between Edinson Cavani and Neymar is far from over according to fresh reports credited to football portal, El Pais.
It is understood that the Uruguayan and record-signing Neymar clearly don’t see eye to eye after their recent rift over
and free-kick taking responsibilities unfolded, but it seems their first exchanges weren’t much better.
According to El Pais, Cavani certainly made a shocking first impression on the Brazilian forward.
‘And who is this? Do you think you’re (Lionel) Messi?’ the striker reportedly asked when Neymar first entered the dressing room.
Whether Cavani was joking or was intending insult upon the new arrival – for £198million – remains to be seen, but while Neymar was seemingly attempting a leap of faith out of the shadow of his former Barcelona team-mate, he probably didn’t take it too well.

Ahead of the completion of the big-money deal, Conte said of Costa: ‘We want to thank him for the work he did with this club, and we wish him all the best for the future.
‘We want to thank him for the work he did with this club, and we wish him all the best for the future.

‘I repeat that now, I’m not interested to talk about the past. I think the past is not important, for every coach and player the past stays there.
‘If you did well in the past, it’s OK, but we have to work for the present and the future to build something important for this club.’
